The Gospel According to Jesus by Chris Seay

This book seems to settle in with a lot of what I'm seeing today in the Christian realm.  Lets make things more palatable for our own liking.  Let us "create" something we can live with so to speak.  Although, he did give me a lot to think about while reading the book.  Maybe I'm not seeing things clearly yet, but this book has caused me to dig deeper and think more about the things of God.

Paul states clearly the Gospel of Christ, and this book does spend a lot of time there, showing the most vital part of that gospel.  There are so many foundational truths there, that I sometimes feel that those who fill the pews are not getting.  How many study the Word for themselves, or are they simply waiting to be hand fed.

This book will cause everyone to take a closer look, to dig a little deeper.  In that, they will find the true deep truths that are there.. we just haven't taken the time to look close enough and study them.  We will be using this book with or home group, as I think it will be more of a deeper growth for all of us.

Seeds of Turmoil: The Biblical Roots of the Inevitable Crisis in the Middle East

Seeds of Turmoil by Bryant Wright

I have spent years studying the Old Testament, and though I have pulled a lot of information out of those hours of study, I still had more to learn about Abraham through this book.  Reading through the Biblical history of him, his children (Isaac and Ishmael) brings to life what we are seeing in the news today from the very beginning of the rivalry.

What seemed like a small instance in lack of faith on Sarah's part has turned into the turmoil we watch and hear about day to day.  This has amazed me for years, but to read this book and see facts laid out so clearly, so easy to understand, just makes it all even more real.  Then to see this same deception and strife passed down for generations seems to bring about the truth in the Word where it speaks of the sins of the father being passed down for generations.  It's there in the Word, but this book organizes all of it so you can plainly see it.

Bryant Wright also pulls in the truth about the religions at the heart of this turmoil, Muslim.  Though I do feel it is Biblically based on facts we can read for ourself, his presentation of it makes it even more visible for those of us who are not Biblical scholars.  This turmoil has been going on for generations, and I'm sure that we are seeing things progress faster than any other generation before us.  Is it a sign of the times, or just a continuation of what came before?

This book will give any reader great insight to the turmoil in the Middle East, showing it's Biblical historical setting and helping us to see why what we see happening today is simply a consequence of things done long ago.

    Immanuel's Veins by Ted Dekker

I was so anxious to have the opportunity to review this book.  Once it arrived, I was not able to put it down.  I always enjoy his books, but this one was an exception to anything I'd ever read from him.  It pushed the envelope more than any of his other work, but it was thoroughly enjoyable.

Ted Dekker again delivers an amazing story that kept me on the edge of my seat.  The twists in the plot kept me anxious to turn the page.  Constantly awaiting good to win out over evil.  I'm always happy with any and all of the Ted Dekkar books I've read.  I am sure this will quickly become one of your favorites if you are a fan.  If you are new to Ted Dekkar's work, this is a great one to break in on.  The story is well written and the characters are quick to win your heart and have you caring for them.  I am looking forward to his next work, but can't recommend this book enough!  You will love it!

You Can Be Everything God Wants You To Be ~ Max Lucado

When I first selected this book, I knew it was going to be good, simply because the author, Max Lucado, has never disappointed me with any of his books.  I am amazed at how his books can even help my young adults retain Biblical truths in such deep spiritual connections.  His writings have always captured my attention, and theirs.  That's one thing I love to share with them, our love for books and love for the Lord.

I selected this book because I had been told it was a great book for graduates, but I always like to check into that for myself.  Boy, were they right!  This book condensed the most poignant ideas and thoughts from another great Max Lucado book, Cure for the Common Life.  I was surprised to find that this book was exactly what I needed at this point in my journey through life.  To be reminded that I had a purpose and that though I'm not like anyone else, that's what makes me so special to God.  He created me just the way I am, to do specific things that only I can do, in His hands.

As I found myself in a new position in ministry, this little book was a valuable tool in helping me to see the big picture, and to not lose sight of the fact that God indeed had created me for such a time as this.  I'm not just another person.  To God, I'm created perfectly to fit into the role He has for me.  I am certain that this will not be the last time I read this book.  This one is a keeper, so I can go back to it for a refresher of things I need to remember and retain as I work towards the goal He has set before me.  As someone who does not think great things about herself, this was a treasure I was thankful to find.

Free Book: I am a fanatic about freedom. I'm tired of seeing people beaten down by the world's systems and by religion. God's offering real freedom. Get yours.

    Free Book* ~ Brian Tome

When this first book up for review arrived, I was a bit skeptical.  After the first chapter, I was hooked.  I couldn't put the book down.  I did have a bit of a time getting started into the book, but then it just seemed to flow.  It spoke deeply to my heart and to what is real and what is wrong with what I see in the lives of those around me.  I had recently read a book that was very similar in topic and idea, and the timing of this book being placed in my hands was a great follow up to what was already being spoken into my heart.

The organized church seems to put so many rules and restrictions on people that it becomes more of a burden than a blessing in our lives.  It limits the freedom God speaks of and puts us in "bondage" with the do's and don'ts.  This book helps to help you sort through so much of what is already there inside of you.  We really must do what Jesus said, and dit to self and watch Him direct us as we follow Him with our hearts rather than our heads.

Brian Tome took what was in my heart and put it in a book that speaks of what so deeply has misdirected us in this pursuit of of a God that did not direct us to do the things we think we need to do.  We are driving people away rather than drawing them to Him.  His willingness to stop beating around the bush and bring truth and reality to the forefront is going to push Free Book to the top of the list of must reads!

I can't express enough how wonderful this book is and a definite must read for those who seek to truly follow Him and do His will in their life.
